Help Us Build the Party in Your County, On Your Campus
The Georgia Green Party seeks to qualify to nominate its candidates by Primary as a Political Party. We have years of development ahead of us as we prepare the way to contest every partisan race in Georgia. One of the requirements will be that we organize a Green Party County Committee in each of Georgia's 159 counties. The basic requirements are laid out in the Georgia Election Code (OCGA 21-2-110 et seq). But more explicit requirements are available in the Georgia Green Party rules.
As recently as 2004, the Georgia Green Party had county affiliates in six of those counties. But all of those county affiliates became inactive over time. The DeKalb County Party recently re-organized. If you live in DeKalb County, we hope you will connect with your county party's leadership and lend a hand. If you live elsewhere in Georgia, please follow their fine example and begin the process of organizing your own county. Please use the form below to let us know you are ready to get started.
County and Campus Affiliates perform a far more important role than merely permitting us to comply with the Georgia Election Code. It is through the County and Campus affiliates and their officers that we are able to conduct outreach, public education for our members and the public, to identify races and recruit candidates, to conduct the voter ID campaigns necessary to turn out Green voters on election day. It is our County and campus affiliates who promote the Party with visibility projects to put Green candidates and the Green Party Platform in front of your community with parades, tabling at county fairs and neighborhood festivals, cultivating relationships with your local media.
Our state committee is only authorized 15 members by our bylaws. Not even 15 super heros could cover 159 Georgia counties. To do so requires that we leverage our commitment to grassroots and participatory democracy. Doing so requires your help.
The affiliation process is described here:
Forms to support the process are available at:
- Petition to Serve as a Local Contact of the Georgia Green Party
- Petition to Convene a Local Affiliate
- Application for Local Affiliation with the Georgia Green Party
- Roster of Servants Named by Our County Affiliate
